HAPPY FOR CONDITIONS
MR WILLIAMS KINDLY GAVE.

I HAD SERVED THE COUNTRY,
HORSEBACK RIVER SOMME,
SEEN THE DEVASTATION,
BUT, LIFE WAS MOVIN’ ON.
POOR MAN CALLS IT MURDER,
RICH MAN CALLS IT WAR,
ANY WAY THE BARREL POINTS,
THE POOR MAN TAKES THE FALL.

SO WE PRAY THAT WHEN THIS LETTER,
FINDS ANOTHER MAN,
AN EQUAL SHARE WILL FIND US ALL,
AND PEACE WILL BE AT HAND.

BURY US IN FOREIGN LANDS,
SAVE THE IVORY TOWER,
FIGHT UNTIL WE FALL BOYS,
DIE FOR MEN IN POWER.
THEY CALL IT WAR NOT MURDER,
TO SANCTIFY THE DOUBT,
LEST WE FORGET, REMEMBER,
ALL THE DEEDS WE CARRIED OUT.

SO WE PRAY THAT WHEN THIS LETTER,
FINDS ANOTHER MAN,
AN EQUAL SHARE WILL FIND US ALL,
AND PEACE WILL BE AT HAND.

HIGH ABOVE THE YARRA,
WE’LL BRIDGE THE KULIN LAND,
TWO PARTS SAND, ONE CEMENT,
TO WORK OUR HARDENED HANDS.
